After a very long year several projects are coming to a close. One of which is finally getting our website updated. Those of you who have been kind enough to occasionally take a peek to check for progress you will of noticed a significant lack of updates over the last year. We apologize for that but it has truly been one of the busiest years we have ever experienced.
In the last 18 months we have successfully completed the move to our new work shop and office. This has been a huge undertaking which we has taken significantly longer than we hoped for. It has been a huge amount of work transfer all of our machinery and reinstall it in its new home. However, now that the work is complete we are extremely privileged to be operating out a bright, well lit, windowed and warm shop. It is a quantum leap from our previous site.
The last year has also seen us further refine our direction in many respects. We continue to work with the development of biodiesel equipment. After years of hard work attempting to get biodiesel projects moving forward, we have finally found the bureaucracy to be too overbearing. Without getting into to much detail, we have basically found that there is a distinct lack of direction with the current provincial government. This has been apparent from the lack of concrete decisions, the lack of fuel testing facilities and the general lack of knowledge regarding the biodiesel industry. We have been left with the distinct impression that biodiesel has been “assimilated” with Ethanol and most of the programs attempt to treat the two very disparate fuels in the same manner. Most would be producers are not asking for government funding, they would just like the government to get out of the way and let industry get on with developing an alternate fuel industry. As usual, Manitoba is playing the role of “poor cousin” and we are not only being left behind by the rest of Canada but the rest of the World also.
To reflect the lack of progress in this area we have begun to focus on marketing some aspects of the biofuel equipment we have developed. There has been sustained interest in our line of oil seed crushing equipment and also our modified centrifuges adapted to biodiesel production.. Our Wintron biodiesel additive has also shown a growth in sales and interest. These are items we can develop and market into the fledgling Manitoba biofuel industry.
We have also shifted our focus back to our core skills of machining and diesel engine work. This has always been a staple in our line of work and currently there is high demand for these services. We remain committed to biodiesel and sincerely hope that it does eventually get off the ground here in Manitoba. In the mean time we will continue to work within our means and develop systems that will eventually see service in Manitoba.
Finally, we would like to thank you all for your patience over that last year. We have surely missed many phonecalls and messages due to many flat cell phone batteries and misplaced messages. For those of you who just could not seem to get us on the phone, we are sorry. Hopefully with being firmly rooted in the shop communications will improve.
Many thanks from all of us.
